Katie is the author of the Cup o' Jo young adult novels, published by Scholastic. The newest of which, <i>Mocha My Day</i>, will be released on January 5, 2027. She has also written two other young adult novels, an assorted collection of books for young readers, and published several essays for adults. Katie spent over a decade working for children’s books publishers on the "other side." She was an in-house copy editor and production editor before becoming a full-time writer, and she both loves and fears grammar. The things she reads are just as eclectic as the things she writes, both of which she's been doing for as long as she can remember. Born in the Midwest and raised in the Midwest and Florida, Katie now lives in Beacon with her family and their animals.
Hannah Schneewind taught first grade in Brooklyn, NY and in Westport, CT. She has been a teacher, adjunct professor, curriculum writer, keynote speaker, and national and international literacy consultant. She brings with her over 30 years of experience to the education world. In addition to her work with students and teachers, she partners with Read to Grow, a Connecticut organization that promotes literacy for all children. She enjoys traversing the state in the Bookmobile and guiding children as they choose books.
In her work, Hannah addresses the complexities of learning to read and emphasizes that the science of reading is always evolving. She believes that all children are readers and that all children deserve access to books.
Hannah is the co-author of Trusting Readers: Powerful Practices for Independent Reading (Heinemann) and of the upcoming Readers Matters: Powerful Practices for Inspiring Confident Reading Identities (Stenhouse).
Hannah lives in Connecticut with her family. She lives within walking distance of the town library, which she frequents many times a week.
ennifer Scoggin is a lifelong lover of books. Jen began her career in education teaching first and second grades in Harlem, New York. After ten years in the classroom, Jen has had the opportunity to be an author, speaker, curriculum writer, and literacy consultant. In addition to this work, Jen partners with a local nature-based outdoor preschool to learn from and support young readers and writers.
Jen believes in the capabilities of all children and, in her work, advocates for asset-minded approaches that focus on students’ strengths and interests. Jen’s curiosity about the evolving identities of both students and teachers and her decades-long obsession with children’s literature led her to and informs her work.
Jen holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is the co-author of Trusting Readers: Powerful Practices for Independent Reading (Heinemann) and the upcoming Readers Matter: Powerful Practices for Inspiring Confident Reading Identities (Stenhouse).
Jen lives in Connecticut with her two children, her husband, her dog and too many books to count.

New this year! All book sales will be on-site, thanks to Oblong Books. There will be no advance sales combined with registration.

Please choose three Book Discussion Groups in order of preference. Group assignment is confirmed as of registration. In the case of unforeseen circumstances, we may need to change your selection. If that happens, we will give you as much advance notice as possible.

In order to ensure the most rewarding exchange of ideas, participants are expected to read all of their pre-assigned titles.
Your group assignment is confirmed as of registration. Groups may be subject to change due to extenuating circumstances. If that is the case, we will notify you as soon as possible.
